Paris Hilton was arrested in Hollywood early Thursday and charged with driving under the influence.
TMZ has learned LAPD officers noticed Paris driving her Mercedes McLaren SLR erratically at 12:31 AM and stopped her. They believed she exhibited signs of intoxication. We’re told they administered a field sobriety test, and Paris blew a .08. In California, driving with a .08 blood alcohol level is the minimum level for DUI.
Paris was arrested and taken to the LAPD Hollywood division, where she was booked. The officers who stopped the car did not know it was Paris Hilton until they approached the vehicle on foot. Police sources say she was cooperative. Paris had a passenger in the car — Kimberly Stewart, Rod Stewart’s daughter.
Nicky Hilton, her boyfriend, “Entourage” star Kevin Connolly and her publicist Elliot Mintz arrived at the Hollywood police station just before 2 AM PST. A short time later, Paris was released on her own recognizance and allowed to leave.
Cops took a booking photo, which and LAPD spokesperson says will not be released. An LAPD source would not confirm it Paris glammed it up for the camera, but revealed “It doesn’t look like Nick Nolte.”
Mintz told TMZ that Paris had attended a charity event earlier in the evening as well as an Us Weekly magazine party. He said she had a single drink — a margarita — the entire evening and shortly thereafter she was stopped. She was asked to take a breathalyzer test when she was stopped and cooperated. She took a second test at the station. For the record, TMZ is told Paris is 5′9″ and weighs 110 lbs.
TMZ spoke with Paris as she was driving home from jail, stopping for Parliament Lights cigarettes en route. She says she “regrets it occurred,” and adds that she has been up for 24 hours, having shot a music video all day. (TMZ had exclusive access to the music video set and our video will be posted in a few hours.) Paris says she had nothing to eat and no rest the entire day.
TMZ spoke with Lt. Russ Wong, the watch commander on duty at the Hollywood station. He tells TMZ Paris received no special treatment, however he acknowledges he did not hold her at the station for the standard minimum of three hours. Lt. Wong says he released her after an hour and a half because a gaggle of paparazzi appeared at the station and posed a significant traffic hazard which he needed to abate. Lt. Wong says it’s SOP to release a first-time DUI suspect without bail if a responsible party is there to drive them home — Elliot Mintz was that party.
Driving under the influence is a misdemeanor. If convicted, the defendant will not be jailed, will be given three months’ probation, and will be ordered to enter an alcohol program and will have his or her license restricted for 90 days.
I saw the video on TV. Everyone should look so good when they get arrested, lol.
Paris probably should hire a driver when she goes out.
Love you Paris, but stupid, stupid move
who cares,
if that happend she seems fine with it… it honestly could have happen to anyone so w.e life goes on, she even said she was just going out 4 a burger and then she was going to fast and they pulled her over, and then they did a breath thing on her, and it was at its lowest, and they just did there job by taking her in, so w.e paris was okay with what happend and she accepted it. well make sure it doesn’t happen again!
She was more apprehended by police, they didn’t hand cuff her. She’s fine tho. Her and Elliot already explained everything.
umm no she did get handcuffed.and i know that for a fact cause there is 2 pictures of her with her hands beind her back, and like black things around her rist. which would mean handcuffs.
does she give out her own height and weight or is it measured during these kinds of procedures? responses would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Regardless, she was coperative with the police and her blood alchol level was the lowest. Its not a big deal its not like she was making a scence and was three times over the limit. She was on the limit. Also, the media is blowing this out of preprotion, she was released shortly after she was arrested.
.8 is not much alcohol, they could have let her go, and LAPD does target expensive cars more than cheap ones. Paris did not look drunk or anything.
The Haters are out in full force again on various websites, trying to make mountains out of molehills. But really, this was nothing.
They didn’t let her go, because the didn’t want people to think she was getting special treatment. This die down, in a weeks time.
She’ll have to attend a three months school and I think there is a 3months probation with the drivers license too.
Every comedian mentioned it last night on their shows and every channel carried someting about it on American tv.
But most coverage was like, well that’s Paris, our Party Princess. She just got lots of publicity.
If she’s convicted, I hope she’s not.
yea shes fine with it so w.e people are only gnna be talking about it for a little bit then it shuld be good, w.e sh!t happend in life,
