Paris Hilton and her mother Kathy will be grand marshalls of the Los Angeles Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual & Transgender Pride Parade, expected to draw tens-of-thousands of celebrants this Sunday in West Hollywood.
This is the 35th anniversary of the parade, which was first held on June 28, 1970 to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the drag-queen-led rebellion at the Stonewall Inn in New York City.
Paris, 24, whose latest bit of exhibitionist propaganda was a lascivious Carl’s Jr. commerical, and her socialite mother will share the parade honors, much as they will soon share starring roles in reality shows. Paris is the co-star of Fox’s The Simple Life, and Kathy stars in NBC’s I Want to Be a Hilton, debuting June 21, an “engaging and humorous series” that follows 14 young contestants as they “vie for the opportunity to live the glamorous lifestyle” of Manhattan high society.
Kathy — who is (duh) married to real estate entrepreneur Rick Hilton, chairman of Hilton & Hyland in Beverly Hills and president of Hilton Realty Investment in New York City and Los Angeles — guides the contestants through a variety of weekly challenges ranging from art and culture to beauty and fashion, and each week she will separate the wheat from the chaff in the time-honored reality show tradition. The winner will receive a $200,000 trust fund.
