Paris Hilton says she believed in Father Christmas until she was 17.

The Simple Life star, 24, says she only discovered the truth when a pal revealed there was no such person.

She said: “I believed in Santa Claus until I was 17 when some mean person told me it wasn’t true.

“When my sister and I were kids we used to get up at 6am but now I’m a little lazy so I get up at 11.”
She told American magazine Shop Etc: “I shop every day so if I see things for a friend I get it and there’s a closet I have for presents and I just keep them until Christmas.

“That’s better than waiting until the last minute because then you get lame gifts.”

She says her dream presents for Christmas include a silver Bentley GT convertible – possibly to replace the one her ex-boyfriend Satvros Niarchos scratched in a bingle a fortnight ago – and a pair of $520 Jimmy Choo sandals.

The hotel heiress also hopes to get a pair of $220,000 diamond earrings in her stocking.

She adds: “I never was really into jewelry but now I’m so immature – I want more diamonds.”

Paris Hilton indulged in a spot of shopping in Sydney’s Oxford St at the weekend, a newspaper has reported.

The hotel heiress was seen stepping out of a black, chauffeur-driven car and into designer boutique Bare, The Daily Telegraph said.

Ms Hilton was whisked into the Rebecca Davies store about midday and the shop closed its doors as soon as Paris was safely inside, leaving her free to shop undisturbed.

“I can’t disclose any information about her visit, but yes, we did close the store for Paris Hilton,” a spokeswoman for the shop was quoted as saying.

It is no secret Ms Hilton is fond of shopping, and it would not be a stretch to assume she needs more party frocks than the rest of us mere mortals, but why did she take a 14-hour flight from LA just for a spot of weekend shopping?

Maybe it was a bit of post-break-up retail therapy.

Hilton was reportedly ditched by her new boyfriend Greek billionaire Stavros Niarchos late last week.

According to pals, Niarchos walked out on Paris last Tuesday claiming he could no longer keep up with the “drama”.

The pair split after things got out of hand at a Las Vegas hotel after Kelly Osbourne’s party, sources told Star magazine.

Niarchos was left with a huge bill when a hotel room was trashed by party-goers having a pillow fight.

A pal told the magazine: “Stavros told Paris that things are out of control and he’s through with the drama.

“He said to her: ‘I need time to reflect. I should have been home today studying instead I am here paying $100,000 worth of bills’.”

Paris Hilton has been ordered to get rid of her new pet kinkajou – or move to another state.

The hotel heiress returned home from a trip to Las Vegas with her latest animal friend, even though it is illegal to keep the creatures as pets in Los Angeles.

“We’ll send them a letter just to let them know we’re aware they have a restricted species,” a spokesperson for the California Department of Fish and Game told Teen Hollywood.

Hilton’s representative Elliot Mintz explained, “Paris is a law-abiding citizen. If she receives a letter from the Fish and Game people, I’m sure it will be reviewed and acted upon accordingly.”

Kelly Osbourne has slammed Paris Hilton’s boyfriend for ‘ruining’ her 21st birthday party in Las Vegas.

And she accused shipping heir Stavros Niarchos of being a rich kid who doesn’t appreciate the value of anything.

Kelly had her party in the plush penthouse suite of the Hard Rock Hotel, reports the Mirror.

But the hotel had to be evacuated after Paris’s new man, shipping heir Stavros Niarchos, trashed a room several floors below.

His hotel hijinks, which started with a pillow fight, got so out of hand that the sprinklers were set off, sparking a mass evacuation.

“He has enough money – he’s a millionaire with too much spare cash. He’s a rich kid and they don’t appreciate anything because they grow up with it all. I find it really annoying.”

But she added: “Stavros isn’t struck off our list of friends just yet. Him and Paris are madly in love, so there’s nothing I can do about it.”

The steamy romance between Paris Hilton and Stavros Niarchos III is over — at least for now.

A source close to the hunky shipping heir’s family tells Star, “They broke up Nov. 13. Stavros told Paris that things are out of control and he’s through with the drama. He said to her, ‘I need time to reflect. I should have been home today studying, instead I am here paying $100,000 worth of bills.’”

The bills are for the damage that was reportedly caused in Stavros’ ninth-floor hotel room in the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that a table was thrown, causing a sprinkler head to break, four rooms to suffer water damage and fire alarms to ring. And Stavros, 20, was reportedly seen afterward shirtless with feathers in his hair — presumably from a pillow fight.

Although Paris, 24, was reportedly in the hotel’s penthouse with Kelly Osbourne when the room was wrecked, she wasn’t pleased with Stavros, who also wrecked her Bentley on Nov. 9. She was reportedly overheard telling Kelly, “I don’t want [the hotel] to think I bring in people who do this.”

“He’s tired of the whole Paris Hilton drama thing,” Star’s source said. “She’s forever saying, ‘Let’s party hard like rock stars.’ Every night has to be a party.” Meanwhile, Stavros’ family is said to be outraged. “The family called Stav and said, ‘What’s going on?’” the source said. “They laid into him and said they loved him, but it was time to cut Paris off. She’s a bad influence.”

It ended when “Stavros walked out,” the source says. “She was yelling, ‘Stavros, Stavros, come back.’”

However, Paris’ rep denies they’ve split and denies Stavros wrecked his hotel room, telling Star People, “The two of them are doing great. Stavros seems to be totally in love with her.”

Socialite-turned-actress PARIS HILTON has been given a custom-made $250,000 (GBP138,900) chopper encrusted with Swarovski crystals.

Mechanics at Beverly Hills Choppers unveiled their Paris Hilton Bike recently after Hilton made a passing comment that she wanted her own motorbike.

The jewelled bike features more than 100,000 Swarovski crystals and took six months to complete.

In addition to the crystals, which spell out the name `Paris’ on the tank, the bike sports a custom pink paintwork.

Upon straddling the chopper for the first time, Hilton was presented with matching Swarovski crystal-covered riding shoes, helmet and a one-of-a-kind Beverly Hills Angels jacket.

Nicole Richie, though ostensibly on Friday’s Today show to promote her new novel The Truth About Diamonds, could not avoid the topic of her former best friend, Paris Hilton, saying she would not speak to the hotel heiress should their paths ever cross.

Asked by host Katie Couric about what went wrong among the onetime pals, Richie simply said, “We just grew apart.”

So, is there a feud between them? Not really, said Richie, though the spat “just turned into a much bigger thing than it is. It’s just not part of my life.”

And yet, should she and Hilton happen to run into each other – “at the mall or someplace,” Couric inquired – they would not speak to each other, Richie said flatly.

As for the stories that Hilton was jockeying to replace Richie on their FOX reality show, The Simple Life, with her pal Kimberly Stewart, “That was never going to happen,” according to Richie.

She also soundly denied that, although she’s lost an indeterminate amount of weight – “I don’t know (how much), because I don’t own a scale” – she has an eating disorder.

Later on Friday, on Live! With Regis and Kelly, Richie said the novel’s character Simone was a composite, not based on Hilton as suggested by the show’s guest host, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.

Is Paris Hilton getting cranky with Nicole Richie?

Richie is complaining to friends that she believes Hilton has been crank-calling her, according to a report.

“Nicole has been getting phony phone calls very late at night, practically every night, and she suspects the culprit is her ex-best friend,” reports the forthcoming issue of In Touch Weekly. “Nicole doesn’t have proof, but she’s almost sure it’s Paris,” a friend told the mag.

Reps for both denied the story, but, coincidentally, back when the two were still friends, they were accused of making unwanted calls to Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter, Aimee.

Los Angeles police are investigating a car crash and traffic stop involving heiress Paris Hilton to determine if officers allowed her friend to drive while drunk, a police spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

A videotape released by celebrity Web site TMZ.com shows what appears to be Hilton’s companion, Greek shipping heir Stavros Niarchos, slamming a Bentley into the back of a truck as the couple left a Hollywood nightclub early with at least two other people.

The tape shows the damaged car speeding away from the scene as bystanders and photographers scatter. Later, Niarchos is seen speaking to Los Angeles police officers who have pulled him over. One holds him by the elbow.

The officers then allow Niarchos and Hilton to leave with their friends, identified by TMZ as rocker Rod Stewart’s daughter Kimberly Stewart and Talan Torriero, star of MTV’s reality show “Laguna Beach.”

It was not clear who was driving the Bentley at that point but Torriero is heard telling his friends, “I’m the only sober one, lets just go.” Hilton is seen blowing a kiss to one of the police and saying, “Thank you officer — we love the police,” before she steps into the car.

A spokesman for Hilton declined comment.

“We’re trying to determine what happened,” said Los Angeles police spokeswoman Grace Brady said. “There have been callers alleging that this person was driving under the influence and that LAPD may have allowed them to drive away.”

An administrative investigation was underway, she said.

Nicole Richie appears to take an unsubtle swipe at former friend PARIS HILTON in her semi-autobiographical novel THE TRUTH ABOUT DIAMONDS, basing a character on the hotel heiress.

The pair, co-stars in reality TV show THE SIMPLE LIFE, are no longer friends, and are currently embroiled in a mystery fued.

Richie seems determined to have the last word – making the book’s villain SIMONE WESTLAKE the spitting image of Hilton.

Richie, who calls Simone “an all-around professional fake-rich girl” admits, “Simone and Paris have similarities” – but the likenesses are uncanny.

In one excerpt Richie describes how Simone used the word n**ger after a row with a black man – a reference to a similar incident last August (04) when Hilton was accused of using the word.

Another section of the text describes Simone boasting about having a strain of marijuana named after her. A friend tells Inside TV magazine, “Paris always bragged about how she had a type of weed named after her back in high school.”

Other similarities include a mockery of Hilton’s habit of stealing catchphrases from other people and the way she allegedly tried to hog the camera on the set of The Simple Life.

In the book, Richie appears to base the heroine CHLOE PARKER on herself. Chloe is a beautiful Los Angeles socialite with a rock star father – Richie’s father is singer LIONEL RICHIE.

LATEST: PARIS HILTON’s mystery night with the police has been cleared up – she was being served a subpoena to testify against a suspected burglar who has been targeting the rich and famous in Hollywood.

The socialite-turned-actress spent an hour with police last Thursday evening (03NOV05) but refused to talk about the details.

Now, Los Angeles police confirm she was approached to testify against DARNELL RILEY, who is suspected of robbing a host of high-profile stars’ homes.

Hilton was the victim of a burglary last summer (AUG04). It is not known at this point if Riley is suspected of robbing the socialite hotel heiress.
