Hunter Speaks!

While many men may only dream of intimately bonding with Paris Hilton, Hunter Cross can say he’s actually made that dream a reality.

Featured on E!’s The Simple Life Goes to Camp, Cross co-stars with Hilton and Nicole Richie as a counselor at Malibu’s Camp Shawnee. Filming for the series’ fifth season, which debuted on Memorial Day helped Cross, a Maryland native, open his eyes to the Hollywood lifestyle.

“[At first I thought] Paris and Nicole were the typical born and bred Bel-Air girls, but they are just regular people who just happen to be under the microscope,” Cross tells Usmagazine.com. However, he does admit that he was initially attracted to the series because of its leading lady. “Paris was one of the main reasons I wanted to do it,” the model says of his transition from Abercrombie & Fitch cover boy to TV star.

Lest you think this Hollywood hottie was simply eye candy for Hilton and Richie, Cross, 26, insists that he was schooled in the art of the not-so-simple life during his adolescence. “I was the one in my family who caught fish and hunted when we went camping,” he remembers.

Hilton, on the other hand, had a tougher time adjusting to her new surroundings. “Paris didn’t have her BlackBerry or cell phone,” Cross explains. “She and Nicole would try to get service and it was funny to watch them run through the woods with their BlackBerry up in the air trying to find some sort of signal,” he says with a chuckle. “Every once in a while they would get one little signal and they would be like “I got one!’”

After five weeks of filming, Hilton and Cross became fast friends who still keep in touch via text messages and once-a-week emails. The last time Cross saw the heiress in person was at her Memorial Day bash, and he continues to support her while she’s behind bars.

“I sent her flowers after Memorial Day telling her that people love her,” he says. “She is an amazing, smart woman and she’ll be stronger after this.”
