Face Time With Paris Hilton (short interview)

For a girl who just split with her best friend in the world (Nicole Richie), Paris Hilton isn’t exactly crying all over her new pink designer sweat suit.

The star of “The Simple Life” has simply moved on. “No, Nicole will not be back for the next season,” Hilton told the Sun-Times recently at the Warner Bros. lot where she was doing some advanced press for the horror remake “House of Wax,” opening May 6.

Q.Paris, there’s a scene in “House of Wax” in which you die — and the entire preview audience applauded wildly. Is this a good thing?

A. That scene was awesome. It was really hard to shoot a spike going through my head. It took two days, and I was filming on night shoots, which are the worst hours ever. But it helped with the character because I was supposed to be cold and miserable and crying. So I was, like, literally crying. I was so miserable. I was like, “Oh, please, just kill me already.”

Q.Do you want to say anything mean about Nicole? Do you secretly hope her new show tanks?

A. I don’t want to talk about her. I just hope she’s happy and healthy. And I want to say that season four of the show is going to be amazing. … As for Nicole, I wish the best for her.

Q.Now you have a new best friend, Kimberly Stewart, who is rocker Rod Stewart’s daughter. We have to wonder: How does one get to be your best friend? And how does one lose your friendship?

A. Oh, I’ve known Kimberly since we were in our mommies’ stomachs. When we were little girls, our parents would always do charity fashion shows, and Kim and I would be in the shows with our moms. We’d get all dressed up and have little karaoke parties at my house. It was so much fun. … As for losing my friendship, well, I’m the nicest, most loyal friend. I just want to be with friends who are happy for me.

Q.You seem pretty happy with your new boyfriend, also named Paris [Latsis]. How did it happen that an heiress named Paris meets a rich guy named Paris?

A. We actually met when he was 14 and I was 16, We met at a club called Jimmy’s in Morocco. Paris came up to me and said, “Hi. My name is Paris.” I was like, “I’m a Paris, too.” It was just so exciting, and then we started dancing all night long. I fell in love. Paris is just one of the most loyal men. He’s the sweetest thing ever.
